Frequently asked questions

• Who are the umpires? Are they qualified?

  Every umpire we send is already on your league's approved umpire list — they've completed the league's clinics and been cleared to work games. For Minors through Seniors, we only send umpires who are 16 or older, or in 10th grade or higher. For Coach Pitch, we match based on your league's home / guest rules.
• Do I tip? Do I need to pay the umpire directly?

  Yes — you pay the umpire directly for the game itself. Our $10 fee is for doing the outreach and making the match. Once you're matched, we'll send you a masked phone number so you can coordinate with your umpire on the amount and payment method (cash, Venmo, Zelle, whatever works for both of you). No payment for the game flows through 407 Umps.
• Do I need to create an account?

  No — guest checkout works fine. If you want to see your past bookings or speed up future ones, you can create an account any time, but it's never required.
• What if my game is less than 24 hours away?

  Short-notice bookings work the same way as any other. Fewer umpires may be available to respond that quickly, so you're more likely to hit "no match found" — but there's no risk in trying. If no umpire confirms, the $10 hold is released and you don't pay a cent.
• Can I reschedule my game?

  Once you're matched with an umpire, you can coordinate schedule changes with them directly on the masked phone line we set up. If they can't make the new time and you need a different umpire, you can cancel and book again — note that the new booking will be a fresh $10 match.
• What if it rains?

  Rainouts are worked out directly with your umpire on the masked phone line. The $10 match fee stays since we already did the matching, but anything else — rescheduling, a fee for a called game — is between the two of you.
• What if the umpire doesn't show up?

  If your umpire doesn't show, text us — we'll look into it. Situations like this are rare, and we handle them case by case. In serious cases we'll refund the $10 connection fee.
• What if you can't find an umpire?

  Not every league-cleared umpire in your area has registered with us. If our roster comes up empty for your game, don't give up — there are two backup paths worth trying. First, ask your coach for the league's full umpire list; the league maintains a broader roster than ours and coaches usually have access to it. Second, ask a parent who's attended the league's umpire clinic — some parents complete the clinic specifically so they can cover their kids' games when needed. Either way, if we can't fill the game from our side, your $10 hold is released — you're not charged.
